The Kyoto Series is four oil paintings, 41X59" that includes a 2" border of art glass mosaic that replicates the imagery of the paintings. The inspiration for these paintings comes from my long involvement with ceramics and a great appreciation of the artistic aesthetics of Japan and Asia. Images from Nature have always been a subject in my artwork. In these painting I have combined The prints of Utamaro (ca. 1753 - 1806) who worked in Kyoto, Japan and Koi taken from my photographs. In 1997 the first important treaty on climate change took place in Kyoto Japan. The images of Koi and Geisha, Humans and Nature an interaction of beauty and collaboration. |
